Currently, we have sufficient volunteers to fill our pantry and driver slots and are not actively adding new volunteers to our regular shifts.
We do have a need for drivers in the Tinicum delivery area. This route extends from Doylestown (where you need to pick-up the meals) to Ottsville, Tinicum, Erwinna, Kintnersville, and Upper Black Eddy. It is a longer route but if this is of interest to you, please let me know so our coordinators can reach out to schedule you.
If you submit the volunteer form below, we will keep your name and contact information and will reach out when we have volunteer opportunities available. Thank you for your interest.
Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks County depends on a generous and dedicated team of volunteers to fulfill its mission of delivering nutritious, individually prepared meals to the homes of those who are challenged to prepare their own meals.
When we have openings, new volunteers are welcome to join our team of pantry aides and drivers. The time commitment is flexible with options from once a month to as often as once a week. Substitutes are always needed and provide an even more open schedule.
Pantry aides volunteer from 9:15 to 10:30 am preparing and assembling trays of nutritious meals at the Central Bucks Senior Activity Center in Doylestown. Drivers and co-drivers arrive between 10:30 and 10:45 am to pick up the prepared meal deliveries and additional food items and begin their delivery routes. Each delivery team consists of two volunteers. The time spent completing a route varies but generally is accomplished in under 2 hours. In addition to providing meals, drivers provide important personal contact and a vital safety check on our clients, especially to those who are homebound.
Volunteering is an essential and rewarding part of our organization. If you are interested in contributing in any way, please contact us or call (215) 345-6065.
